I’m FINALLY ready to share this with you….I started a podcast! 🎉

Introducing The Kindred Life Podcast, a show where we explore how to live more bravely, purposefully, and connected to the people and tangible experiences that matter most. The Kindred Life Podcast is full of encouraging and faith-filled stories, prompts, challenges, and conversations to help you dig more deeply into a life of connection, right where you are. This is a podcast for anyone who wants to be encouraged and inspired to push through challenges and see the beauty that’s growing in the midst. If you want to live more bravely, purposefully, and connected to the people and tangible experiences that matter most, I hope you’ll be a listener!

5 Reasons Why I Started a Podcast:

  1. I have more to share. While my book just released this past spring, I actually started the manuscript 3 years ago. I wrote everything that was on my heart to share in 240 pages at the time, but there’s a whole lot more where that came from - ha! This is different from a book though - each episode stands alone. After being tapped out creatively from working on my book for the last 3 years, this is where my creativity is flowing right now.

  2. I love the podcasting medium. I’ll be honest - I do not love being in huge groups or speaking to large groups of people. 🙈 At the same time, I’ve been on a journey over the last several years of finding my voice and using it boldly. With podcasting, I get to use my actual voice, and I can speak to the masses, but it still feels intimate, like I’m talking to one single person. This is my style.

  3. It stirs my soul. Have you ever had that feeling when something quickens your insides? Like…it’s kinda scary but also completely invigorating and fulfilling at the same time? That’s how I feel about doing this! Not until I was a guest on Tsh Oxenreider’s podcast about 4 years ago did I have any idea I would like podcasting. I was scared to death before the interview, but after that episode recording, I felt positively giddy. I also felt shocked, because I had no idea this was something I would be good at. Shortly after, I ended up co-hosting Tsh’s podcast for a few years and have been a guest on many others. Every time, I just love doing it! At almost age 45, I know now to listen to those stirrings.

  4. I can do it from home. My life is rooted here in the soil of Kindred Farm. My husband, Steven, and I have built a life of farming, cooking, writing, gathering, and homeschooling our children here. It’s important to me that whatever I do outside of being with my family and close friends doesn’t compromise my own Kindred Life. We’ve created a cozy little office studio in the second floor of our barn where I can record all of these episodes. I can overlook the produce field while I share stories with you. This feels real to me.

  5. Social media has changed. We all know it’s harder than ever to connect with people on social media in a way that feels meaningful, and less and less of your audience even sees your posts these days! I’m pouring my energy more into sharing on the podcast and in my email newsletter, which, again, feels more intimate and direct in how I can communicate with you.

So…there ya go! My hope is that The Kindred Life Podcast will breathe life into your days and be a spot of joy in your week. Each episode will be around 20-25 minutes long - just perfect for taking a short drive or walk, folding some laundry, or drinking some hot coffee or tea while you listen in.

As far as the technical stuff, I don’t really know what I’m doing! 🤪 But I’m learning along the way. So far, Anchor is super easy to use to create and publish my podcast episodes, and I’m doing the sound editing in the app Audacity. I may not be an expert at all, but the point is, I’M DOING IT, and I’m bringing you along with me. We don’t have to wait until all the ducks are in a row or everything is neatly aligned to start going for the things that are lifegiving!
