The Kindred Life Podcast Ep. 31: Sudden Journeys with Kyle Campbell

Be encouraged to dream. To confidently walk out your unique story. To invite people in authentically. To fulfill your longing to explore where you live...and maybe risk a journey to inspiring places you've never seen before...

Ahh, get ready. In this episode, one of my favorites so far, I get to chat with professional photographer and travel guide throughout Europe and the U.K., my dear friend of 15 years - Kyle Campbell of Sudden Journeys.

Kyle was able to join me in the barn studio recently while she was in the U.S. visiting friends and family, thousands of miles away from where she lives in an enchanting 1700s cottage in the English countryside. But before she lived overseas, Kyle and I spent many years as friends in both Texas and Tennessee. I know her deep well of creativity, wisdom, and passion will inspire you, just as she’s made an indelible mark on my life for so many years!

Just a few of the topics we discuss:

  • Keeping your creative “self” alive in the midst of mothering and marriage

  • The incredible uniqueness of the travel experiences Kyle offers

  • Reclaiming beauty and joy after loss

  • Creating a sense of welcome around the table, wherever you live

  • Be sure to listen to the end to hear about a “sudden journey” Kyle and I recently took together! 💫

Originally from Tennessee, Kyle has made a life as a wayfaring soul. After graduating from Savannah College of Art & Design, Kyle bought a one-way ticket for Florence, Italy, where she immersed herself in the Italian language and culture and the art of ‘dolce far niente’… the art of doing nothing.

After a 15-year career with several travel agencies as a destination specialist, tour director, and travel guide across Europe, Kyle launched Sudden Journeys in 2018.

When she’s not exploring new places, you can find her in her garden, cooking a feast for friends, or continuing her work as a professional photographer.

Kyle lives in an 18th-century farmhouse set in the idyllic English countryside with her husband, two teenagers, Simba the cat… and possibly a few Victorian ghosts.

Here’s a photo of me, Kyle, and Steven in…2009? Doing what we do best - cooking and sharing meals together! This was taken in our former beloved home in Dallas, TX. ❤️

A few photos of me and Kyle from her recent trip to the U.S.…on our spontaneous adventure together (first photo) and at the Family-Friendly Dinner on Kindred Farm (second photo).
