My New Book Publishing Contract with Harper Horizon!

Welp, this is really happening! Many of you know I signed with a literary agency several months ago…and now I’m finally able to share that I’ve just signed my first book publishing contract with the INCREDIBLE team at Harper Horizon, an imprint of Harper Collins!

I couldn’t be more grateful to be with this talented team who has completely caught the vision for the book I’ve been imagining for years, the kind of book I’ve always wanted to write.

Thank you to my extremely kind and competent agent and cheerleader, Jenni Burke of Illuminate Literary, for walking every step of this path with me! What a long road and learning process this has been, but I know God has put me in the right place with the right people.

To be honest, I’m mustering up every ounce of courage I have to put myself out there (Enneagram 9s, you with me!?) and simultaneously pinching myself that I get to write a real, actual book. I’ve dreamt about being an author since I was 11, when all I did was write really bad poetry in my pink bedroom plastered with NKOTB posters - ha!

This is a big moment, but really, the beauty is in the million other small moments. The day-in-and-day-out work of taking one step forward, then another…silencing the fears that say my voice doesn’t matter, and growing a little more courageous each time.

SO, BE ENCOURAGED TODAY, friends! We need YOU to live out your own unique story and share the outpouring of what you’ve learned along the way, whether that’s in a published book or in an intimate face-to-face conversation with a friend. All of it matters.

All I can say about the book, for now, is that it will be non-fiction, personal narrative, full-color with lots of stories and photos. My goal is to write something beautiful AND gritty, useful AND inspiring. I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.

I’ll be sharing more details and insights as I work on my manuscript, so be sure to sign up on my email list for The Kindred Letter where I’ll be giving little sneak peeks into the process each month.

And those flowers in the bouquet I’m holding above? They are the sweetest gift from Jenni, my literary agent, from Farmgirl Flowers. This one, huge bouquet made 3 separate vases of flowers, of which I took approximately 8 million photos. Aren’t they just stunning?

Now, it’s head-down to write my manuscript. In the midst, I’ll continue living out the everyday moments I love best with my husband and girls, feeding chickens, tending lettuce and tomatoes and flowers, and basically getting my hands so rough and dirty, they’ll never be the same again. This ain’t gonna be easy, but I couldn’t be more grateful.
